Hobbies/interest: collecting
artwork (paintings, sculpture), may have an interest in photography
based on all the photography hanging in her apartment. Monica
is also a huge fan of "The Brady Bunch" and has
even been to the Brady House in California and has a picture
of herself taken there. (9x18 "Sunshine Days")
Smoking: Throughout her season
8 episodes, we have seen Monica smoke Morley Light cigarettes.
She kept saying how she's trying to cut back. In "Empedocles"
we see her attempt chewing "Niclets" gum to help
her quit. Niclets is for smokers who smoke less than 25 cigarettes
a day. (source: The X-Files Official Magazine #18 Summer 2001
- pg.38) By "Nothing Important Happened Today",
she seems to have quit the habbit over the weekend.
Language: Aside from English,
Monica is fluent in Spanish (9x07 "John Doe").
Wardrobe: While on a case and
in the office, Monica can usually be seen in a work suit.
Although there have been times where we'll see her dressed
casually at work, and even wearing a tanktop. By the FBI's
dress code, casual wear is out of line (I'm guessing this
has to go down to the wardrobe department that worked for
"The X-Files"). In season 8 Monica was always dressed
for the work place.
Outside of work, we can usually see Monica dressed
casually in jeans and sometimes in leather pants (9x15 "Jump
The Shark"). In "Essence" she had a lightweight
green short sleeve shirt, and in "Existence" she
changed into a lighteight white short sleeve shirt and jeans.
She usually will have a dark jacket and will often wear a
black leather jacket. She also owns a long sleeve sweater
jacket that she wears over her white tanktop in 9x05 "4-D".
She also owns a tan jacket (leather perhaps) in 9x04 "Hellbound".
She owns a pretty heavy (by the looks of it) button up jacket
that she probably uses during the colder months (9x11 "Providence",
9x14 "Improbable").
She seems to be fond of turtle necks, long sleeve
v-necks, long sleeves, and tanktops. Jeans, khakis, and even
leather pants. She owns a knitted scarf that she wears in
cold temperatures (9x12 "Scary Monsters").
Earth tones seem to be her color of choice:
red, brown, white, dark green (olive), light yellow, black,
grey.
On her date with Brad Follmer in 9x01 "Nothing
Important Happened Today I", she wore a black button
up long sleeve blouse (with a few top buttons unbuttoned).
She wears a long black nightgown with spaghetti
straps. She also has a dark red robe, and two white ones.
Jewelry: wears silver rings
(sometimes 1, and sometimes 2) on both her hands (on the middle
finger). Earrings: not dangly, small stubs. Small silver half-hoops,
golden stubs.
Has visited: Gdansk, Poland
(9x05 "4-D")
Official Site Biography
Although born in Austin, Texas, Monica Reyes was adopted by
Mexican parents and raised in Mexico. She has never identified
her birth parents.
She majored in folklore and mythology at Brown
University, earning her bachelors and masters degrees in four
years. After considering an academic career, she instead enrolled
at Quantico in 1990. Reyes’ first FBI assignment was
to serve on a special task force investigating claims of Satanic
ritual abuse. None of the charges was ever substantiated,
and a report was issued in 1992.
Reyes then served in the New York City field
office, where among her cases was the kidnapping of 7 year-old
Luke Doggett, son of New York City police officer John Doggett.
The boy was eventually found dead, but no suspect was ever
apprehended. In 1999, she transferred to the New Orleans field
office. She remained there until the former cop-turned FBI
Agent Doggett convinced her to accept a post on the X-files
unit in Washington, DC.
