Summary: Monica Reyes thinks back on a kiss she shared with John Doggett.
Response to smackalalala's drabble meme, line from a song, a fandom and I pick the 
pairing/character. I got to work with this:

"The only comfort is the moving of the river/You enter into me a lie upon your lips" 
(from "Ice" by Sarah McLachlan) Obviously the fandom is "The X-Files".

Silence fell between us faster than the autumn's setting sun. His tongue may have danced 
with mine, gentle and slow like the moving river, but the dance was nothing more than a 
lie upon his lips. The truth was in his sympathetic, lopsided grin, which tried its best not 
to reveal that his heart loves another, someone he may never have.

My heart aches. I'd give anything for John to love me as he loves her.

All I have now is the memory of that kiss, the moving river, as I lie awake alone at night.
