EXCERPT FROM LINDSAY'S REPORT
After Summer was Adam’s panel. He started behind
the screen so that his silhouette was visible to the
audience. He is quite the crowd pleaser. He told us
that it was his 20th wedding anniversary that coming
Wednesday. 20 years in Hollywood!
Talk turned to chuck where “I’m the grumpy
one...again.” He answered my mum’s question
from in the bar though! He thought the producers would
have dubbed him with an actual tenor singing high C.
He also addressed the kiss in Chuck vs. the Ex. “I’ve
kissed a man.” Poor Zachary, “he was 28,
I lasted to 46” before sharing a man kiss. He
said they were really professional about it and the
script did call for it.
He then talked about the diversity of the audience
and even mentioned Canada! Woot woot! Adam also joked
that this convention was helping pay for his kid’s
college tuition.
The audience then announced that we have questions
to which he joked, “NO!” He then went on
to tell us that most of the extras on Chuck were browncoats
or trekies. At this point the microphone went out and
he yelled, “Summer!” and told us she was
“our set scapegoat. Everyone should have one.”
The first question was a reoccurring question from
the weekend: what did he take home from the set? He
got all of Jayne’s shirts, the boots, gloves,
cunning hat, Binky the bowie knife and a bullet for
Vera. Oh and toenail clippings from Morena. It became
an ongoing joke. “Me like Morena.”
If he could reshoot anything, he’d redo the pain
is scary scene from the pilot. It was the first shot
they filmed with him. Adam really wanted to climb onto
Dobson’s lap.
Next Adam was asked what his favourite weapon was.
Instead of the usual Vera, Binky or Boo, he answered,
“Dry wit.’ The question after was the annual
Rayne one. “What do you think of the River/Jayne
pairing?” “River and Jayne? Nah...She’s
too young. Now Morena...*laughs*”
Then I asked a question! “I like the idea that
Jayne softens over the series. Do you think that Jayne
is a good man and does Jayne think he’s a good
man?” Adam answered after some thought, “Jayne
is not a good man. But Jayne thinks he is. He doesn’t
really believe when he prays and stuff. Love thy enemy?
No!” He laughed and smiled at me.
The next question was what Jayne was doing when he’d
“be in my bunk.” Adam yelled, “Masturbation!”
and the lights went out! Very funny moment. “We
had that planned,” Adam joked.
The Firefly musical episode question came up and he
thought Jayne would sing, “Why can’t a mercenary
be more like a girl.” But he would speak it and
not sing like one number from My Fair Lady.
Interestingly, Adam is not an instigator of pranks.
He follows and carries jokes but doesn’t start
them. “I’m a follower, not a leader. I definitely
follow.” “I just react...that’s how
I was trained.” And he joked around. “I
get really uncomfortable talking about me.”
He was asked about how he is always assumed to be one
of the Baldwin brothers. He now just tried to “convince
them I’m the smart one. The sober one...*laughs*...no,
I’m not.”
Adam was then asked next about my question from in
the bar: Jayne vs. Casey. Well I guess I convinced him
because he answered without hesitation, “Jayne!”
Next, he was asked what Jayne thought of each of the
crew:
“Mal – older brother
Inara– really hot
Wash– pest
Zoe–hot, strong, but annoying too
Book–smart, reverent
Doc–pest but sexy *laughs*
Kaylee–little sister
River–insane”
The weirdest fan moment question was asked and Adam
told us of the time on the Serenity set when some fans
were peeking through some bushes and called to him,
“Hey Adam! Come here...can you tell Nathan we
want to talk to him?” Adam made a sad face as
the audience roared with laughter.
The questions returned to chuck and Adam told us that
the episode after the superbowl will be in 3D! He also
talked about Comic Con and how his co-stars were extremely
intimidated by the whole thing. Adam definitely has
had a lot of convention experience!
Adam was then asked what he does to keep in shape:
“Dink beer!” His favourite beer? He wouldn’t
say but he was drinking a Heineken in the bar.
His favourite Firefly episode was Out of Gas or the
Pilot. He then talked about Heart of Gold and how he
asked Joss if he could brush Helen’s, the whore,
hair; something he does for his daughters. His favourite
Chuck episode is Chuck vs. the Undercover Lover where
there is “some kissy face.”
Adam’s panel was my favourite. He is so funny
and definitely knows how to get the audience involved
and excited.
